Our School
Mt Eden Normal Primary School has served its community for 130 years. We are an exemplary school in the primary education sector and pride ourselves in offering a future-focused education, assisted by quality resourcing and facilities. Our school is organised into six year-level teaching teams each under the leadership of a Team Leader. Mt Eden Normal Primary School students will leave MENPS having begun to develop a number of dispositions that will enable them to be positive and productive national and global citizens in the future. These include: making sense of the world around them; thinking in a range of ways; relating positively to others; participating and contributing to the lives of others and managing themselves appropriately in a range of contexts. We call these dispositions our ‘touchstones’. Normal School Our school is called a Normal School because it is linked to the University of Auckland, Faculty of Education, and is used as a practice and demonstration school for teacher training. At times, our staff present in the programme at the Faculty. We value our partnership with the University. Communication We encourage parents to be interested in and informed about their child’s progress and development. The school arranges two formal Parent/Teacher conferences each year; one in March and the second in July. However, if you require an indepth conversation in addition to these opportunities, please arrange a meeting with your child’s teacher, either through the teacher or, if the teacher is unavailable, one of the Associate Principals - Mrs Patel for Years 1-2 and Mrs Matene for Years 3-6.
